As the Organizing Committee responsible for delivering the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, VANOC has launched a number of programs that communities can take advantage of, in areas such as volunteering, education, sustainability, culture and the arts. EDUCATION
- Paralympic School Days Pilot – raises awareness of the Paralympic Games in elementary schools in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland
- /EDU – connects teachers, students and schools across Canada with Vancouver 2010. For more information, visit www.vancouver2010.com/en/edu
- VANOC and UBC are currently exploring the feasibility of a post-secondary program that could include a global exchange of ideas related to the 2010 Games, including local, national and international conferences and forums on sport, culture and sustainability, and involving universities and colleges from across Canada and around the world.
SUSTAINABILITY
- Vancouver 2010 Fabrication Shop (VANOC and RONA) – community based training program that provides carpentry skills training and supported job experience to individuals looking to enter the workforce with a new trade.

Cultural Olympiad 2010 – Open Call for Proposals

- VANOC has also launched an artist registry for individual artists and ensembles interested in participating in Cultural Olympiad and/or other Olympic and Paralympic Games programs. - Arts Partners in Creative Development (in Partnership with the Province of British Columbia, 2010 Legacies Now, the City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Foundation and the Canada Council of the Arts) - Organizations can apply for funding to create, commission and develop original work in the performing, visual, media or literary arts. - Own the Podium 2010: Launched in January 2005, Own the Podium 2010 is a national sport technical initiative designed to help Canada’s winter athletes win the most number of medals at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and to place in the top three nations (gold medal count) at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.
